Frederick
was the youngest of two sons of Sabden's blind newsagent, James Moore.
Fred attended
Sabden
County
School
and the
Baptist
Church
and Sunday School where he was a member of the choir.
When he left school, Fred began work as a weaver at J Stuttard
and Sons, Cobden Mill, Sabden.
In
May 1918, Fred’s older brother returned home after being gassed twice
and severely wounded whilst in
France
.
Frederick
enlisted into the army on
28th May 1918
.
After finishing his training in the first week of October 1918,
Frederick
returned home on leave before
being sent out to
France
.
A
fortnight after Fred had left for
France
, his parents received a
telegram from the No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station, France informing
them that
Frederick
was dangerously ill after
receiving severe shrapnel wounds.
Three
days later a second telegram informed them that their son had died from
his wounds.
Frederick
Moore is buried at
Premont
British
Cemetery

Aisne

France
.

Sabden he has been remembered on both the School and Church plaques. |
