Up until his marriage
Dennis lived with his parents, James and Margaret Marshall, in
Burnley
. After leaving school he
was employed for eleven years as a miner at Towneley Pit,
Burnley
before moving to Barden Pit,
Burnley
. Dennis married Agnes, they
lived at
16 Thorn Street
, Sabden and the couple went on to have two children.
In January 1941
Dennis enlisted in the Royal Engineers and spent eight months stationed
in
England
before being drafted to
Tripoli
in the
Middle East
. On
the 26th June 1943
, Mrs Marshall received official information that her husband had been
killed in an accident in the
Middle East
.
Dennis Marshall is
buried at the Tripoli War Cemetery, Libya.
In Sabden he has been remembered on both the
School and Church Plaques. |
