Frank lived with his
parents at
Fort
Villa

Pendle Street East
, Sabden. After leaving
school he was employed by Messrs Lockwood and Buckley as a weaver at
Union Mill, Sabden.
He joined the army in
February 1939 and on the outbreak of the war he was drafted to
France
. Frank was given a week's
leave and he was able to spend Easter 1940 at home with his parents.
Five weeks after
Frank had returned to
France
, his parents received a communication from the war office stating that
Lance-Corporal Lawless had been killed in action on
Tuesday 21st May 1940
.
Along with nineteen
of his comrades, Frank is buried at the
Pecq
Communal
Cemetery
, Pecq,
Hainaut
,
Belgium
.
In Sabden he has been
remembered on both the School and Church Plaques.
